Local News

Yesterday Kyla was briefly pretending to run a newspaper. I didn't see her making deliveries, but while cleaning up I found this article. I will try to write exactly what I see.

Spain Cleaning

"in 8 days we are going to Spain. Mom & dad are puting evrythink in boxs. me and syd are plaing, mom & dad are cleaning (sortove.) it's been crasy the last few days. (rilly rilly crasy.) There is boxs of stuff in the hall and everybody's running all crazy around the house.
IT IS VERRY CRASY!"

What do you mean sort of cleaning? I guess she's not used to seeing the contents of the toy closet and all the cupboards spread out all over the house. That is more sorting than cleaning. Anyway, that pretty much sums up the weekend.

Typhoid for summer

So much to blog, so little time. I would love to do some back-blogging (is that a real term and is it acceptable?) where I go back and share things from the past few weeks. Kyla's play, piano recital, and pictures that I still need to get off my camera. The weather was beautiful yesterday, but we were inside mostly, tackling the dreaded toy closet. We're making good progress and have several boxes for giving away. It's hard not to get burned out and actually get packed boxes moved into the garage. So, your wondering about the typhoid. Well, we've gotten all our shots for the trip. Three for Dad, two for Mom and one for each of the girls. Kevin and I started our series of oral typhoid vaccine which involves four capsules, one every other day on an empty stomach with a glass of room temp water and nothing to eat for an hour after. Did you know that you get typhoid from salmonella? Anyway, so far so good, really hoping to avoid the fever side affect, no time for a fever. We wouldn't really need the vaccine for western Europe, but were hoping we have time for a trip to Morocco since it's so close to where we'll be living.
OK, let's hope for a productive week because we leave one week from tomorrow!

The polls are open

I need your input. How should I get my hair cut. Feel free to make comments. I know your wondering how could the girl with the straightest hair on earth be picking these styles? Well, it's too late to talk me out of it - last week I got a perm. I know it's out right now, but I just knew it was the only way to have a carefree, low maintenance style for my summer travels. So, what do you think?

*********** C ******************************* D *************

This last one is kind of what my hair looks like right now, maybe a little longer. Thanks for you input.

Dads & Grandpas

Happy Father's Day to our Dads and Grandpas. We love you! Sorry you didn't get cards in the mail - it's getting crazy here - only two weeks to go. Kyla & Sydney worked on these for you, but you'll have to enjoy the digital version since these slabs of wood didn't fit so well into an envelope. The girls wish they could go camping, but luckily they got to spend two nights at the "farm" with Gma, Gpa, & cousins playing outside all day. Thanks!

Second Grader!

Today is the first day of summer for Kyla, she spent the morning watching several episodes of Thundercats. Thanks to her dad she now has access to lots of 80's cartoons. Kyla had a great year and got a terrific report card yesterday. She is wearing a medal from the PTA for the reading challenge. Kyla really loved her teacher and we will miss her. Tomorrow she is looking forward to helping out at the summer preschool program with her little sister.

Field Day

Field Day on Friday at Kyla's school. It was a sugar induced, loud, chaotic kind of fun. And it was cold and windy outside, but at least it didn't rain. I wasn't tempted to have a snow cone, but I was wishing for some hot chocolate. Is it really June? I was worried about the kids getting cold and wet during one of the first events shown here, the sponge water relay. Luckily some smart grown up put warm water in the bucket and the wind dried their hands quickly.
But where was the fashion police? At least all the colors go together. My little preschool teen is at this scary stage where she wants to wear something "new" everyday. So far with all the sorting of hand-me-downs it has been working out for her the last couple of weeks. I hope she gets over it soon, or she will be having a real wardrobe crisis on our summer travels. I can hear the whine already. "But I've already worn that outfit this week." I haven't told her that she'll have to wear the same outfit every week.

Got Time?

Hopefully you had time to view this awesome rainbow last night. Actually not sure if you had one in PDX, this pic was taken in Woodburn. I spent the day in Salem yesterday running errands and working on a project with my mom while Sydney was playing with her Great Gma Nammy. I really wanted to stop at the Columbia Outlet in Woodburn, but I ran out of time. When I got there at 7:50pm I couldn't find Columbia, so I ran into Eddie Bauer and found out that Columbia was on the edge of the outlet stores and they were closing at 8pm. Sydney bought me some extra shopping time in EB by distracting the sales girls with the cuteness of running around and trying to help me pick out a color of pink that I would find acceptable to wear. (I don't wear pink.) As we ran to the car we saw the brightest rainbow I've ever seen, it was even double for a while.

4 week freak out!

Yes that's right folks, we leave for Europe four weeks from today! Yes, we're freaking out. This year has gone by so fast already I can't imagine how fast the next four weeks will go. We still have a lot of packing up to do. Not only packing for our trip, but cleaning out and packing up our house to get ready for our renters. How do I have time to blog? Well I have to do something while eating lunch. Uh oh - I guess Kevin will know it was me who got peanut butter on the keyboard. OK back to work.
