You Capture - Spring

Wednesday, April 28

Here are some of my favorite things about spring:

my tulips

longer days and my neighbor's tree in bloom.

asparagus, even if it's not from my garden.

and the weather getting warm enough to eat smoothies outside.

Please visit Beth for all the Spring captures.

Recycling imaginary paper

Wednesday, April 28

Last night Sydney was complaining about a scary story she heard and how she couldn't get the images out of her head.  I recommended that she use a pencil to erase the images or shred them up and throw them in the ocean and so on...

She said, "I better use an eraser so I don't waste any paper."

Macro Monday - Caught

Monday, April 26

I should be cleaning, but I'm taking a break instead.  I tried to capture this dandelion seed that looks like it's flying away, but it's actually caught in a spider web.  It was too windy for that seed to stay in focus.  OK, maybe I can go mop the kitchen now.

You Capture - Sweet

Wednesday, April 21

I'm so behind on blogging!  I haven't even written about my baby turning 6.  Well here she is lookin' sweet and finally getting to wear her fancy dress to school on her birthday.

Have you ever used scented bubbles, I guess they smell kind of sweet, but don't eat them.

Dr. C is so sweet to let himself get pie in the face to help raise money for his research students. At least the whip cream was sweet!

I won a raffle at the preschool auction and now I have an iPod Touch and that is SWEET.

Visit Beth to see more "Sweet" shots!

Happy Birthday to my blog!

Thursday, April 15

Actually Sydney, the baby of the family and the blog have the same birthday, which is tomorrow.  I'm so surprised and pleased to have one of my photos recognized by The Pioneer Woman (one of the first bloggers that I started following) that I had to write about it.    Every so often she posts a photography assignment and thousands of people submit photos and here is the post where she selected my "orange star" as one of her faves for the Macro Assignment.
Happy 2nd bloggy birthday to me!
I'd also like to thank Beth of I Should Be Folding Laundry for inspiring me to photograph shapes.

You Capture - Fresh

Thursday, April 15

Here a the fresh things around our house this week.  Peanut butter cookies - fresh faced from the oven!

A freshly sprouted "Eye Grow".

And the neighbor's fresh spring tulips.

Dr. C went to Orlando and all I got was this lousy blog post!

Wesnesday, April 14
OK, that is not really true, but it sounded like a good title.

As you can see Kevin brought back a bunch of swag, which included a lot of pens, hand sanitizer that looks like a pen, memory sticks, rulers and a dozen or so bags.  I've really been wanting to do better at using my own bags at the grocery store.   Now, I have no excuses!  I recently discovered that my grocery store gives you a 5 cent discount for using your own bags.  In fact if you see me using paper or plastic you should go ahead and punch me.   Of course I do use one per week for my trash because I'm definitely not going to buy plastic trash bags.
Note:  I started writing this post about  a month ago and should have several bruises because I keep forgetting to put them in the car.   Must remember bags!

Also, did you notice all the spent water bottles.  How can a hotel next to a convention center that must see thousands of these water bottles not have recycling!!  Luckily that expandable suitcase gave him extra room for bottles.  Good job Dr. C - totally something I would do.
Here is a thumb drive/memory stick he got for free.
Hmmm.  It looks a lot like Kevin's dad (aka Papa Don).

You Capture - Comfort

Thursday, April 8

Last week was so busy it seems like there was no time for comfort.  A couple of weeks ago when big sister was gone, Sydney adopted this big bunny as her little sister to keep her company.  She also decided to wear a sleeping hat??

Cereal can comfort this girl morning, noon, or night.
My sister's dog, Luna, comfortable on her blanket in the kitchen.
I found this phone in the hotel we stayed in last weekend.  Do some people find comfort in things that look old? I remember my grandma used to have a phone like this that you actually had to dial - it took for ever to dial a number, especially if you make any mistakes.

You Capture - Feet

Thursday, April 1

It seems like I've had feet pictures for the last couple of challenges.  Those feet are everywhere.  Here are some more without captions.  I'm supposed to be packing up to spend the weekend in Seattle.

No one said they had to be people feet.

Thanks to Keli for hosting this week.  Click the button for more feet.
