Syd's Soccer Review

Sunday, November 7

How has a whole soccer season gone by and not one soccer photo posted?
You may remember last year, Syd's first year of soccer, when she had to play with BOYS and she was reluctant to play without the assistance of Lambie.  I had to twist her arm to get her to play again this year, but what a change.  We had an awesome coach, all girls on the team and most of them friends from school or preschool.  They learned so much this year and developed great teamwork.  I've have even seen them miss goals because they were so busy passing to each other.  Even though we don't keep score I'm pretty sure they never lost a game.

Here are a couple of clips of the last game.

Lambie scores and so does Sydney

Tuesday, November 10

Sydney had her last soccer game on Sunday and everyone is pretty happy about it. Kyla only has one more to go - too bad it's kind of far away at 9am on Saturday. Ugh. The practices have pretty much been over since we set the clocks back. I'm definitely a fair weather fan. The kids never seem to mind the rain, and I'm OK as long as it's not too cold out.

Sydney turned out to be quite the go getter on the field, but she still says she doesn't like the games. For several she wouldn't play unless she took Lambie with her. Fine by us, not like you need your hands for soccer.

Go Lambie!
Lambie scores!
Are those tiny sweatbands she is wearing? What a pose!
Actually Lambie got to rest for the last two games. I didn't take my camera since it was threatening to rain. Not a lot of kids showed up, so the coach enlarged the field, put two goals at each end and tossed in two balls. The kids had a great time and Sydney thinks she set a world record by scoring 15 goals!

You Capture - Red

Thursday, October 8

I was thinking that I didn't take that many Red photos for the challenge this week. I even caught a cold, but now I'm having troubles narrowing down the selection. Glad I don't have to pick just one. So glad I didn't forget my camera when I found myself walking around downtown over the weekend and found this beautiful church.

I also love to use the color accent setting on my camera. I know it can be annoying, but I don't care.
My trusty old Schwinn mountain bike. For this one I used photoshop.

Instant Soccer Mom says... Where's my minivan?

Tuesday, September 21

I didn't quite realize that having two girls in soccer would mean practices 3 nights a week, always around dinner time and two games in different locations on Saturdays. So far nothing has overlapped and I'm hoping it won't since we only have one car. We started practices a month ago already and now that we have games on the weekend, it seems we are always rushing out the door with water bottle, balls, cleats and shin guards. Yes, all I need is a minivan!

This is Sydney's first year playing on the 4/5 yo team. She loves practice, but she's not so sure about the games. They are a little rough, but after her first game I'll have to say she is a ball chasing, mosh pit surviving, goal making machine!

And another goal!!

I don't have any good videos of Kyla's game, the field is so much bigger. She is on a U9 girls team and they have practice twice a week and they are learning positions and everything. So far, her favorite is defense.

Kevin is the assistant coach for Kyla's team so the whole family is keeping busy.
